Blood sugar specific warning

GlycoMelt is a dietary supplement. It is not a treatment for diabetes, prediabetes, insulin resistance or any other disease and is not a substitute for prescribed medication.

Several named ingredients — including berberine, Gymnema Sylvestre and chromium — may lower blood glucose. Combined with metformin, insulin, a sulfonylurea or other glucose-lowering medication, this can increase the risk of hypoglycaemia. Berberine also affects how the body processes many unrelated medicines and is generally avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Never reduce, stop or otherwise change prescribed medication because of anything on this site or because a supplement appears to be working. If your readings change, contact your care team. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before adding any supplement if you take glucose-lowering medication.

Symptoms that need medical attention

Excessive thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, persistent fatigue, blurred vision, slow-healing wounds, or numbness in the hands or feet may indicate diabetes and should be assessed. Symptoms of low blood sugar — shakiness, sweating, confusion, dizziness, rapid heartbeat — need treating promptly, and severe hypoglycaemia is a medical emergency.

Ingredient uncertainty

No Supplement Facts panel is published on the reference sales page and no amount is stated for any ingredient. The page also names its ingredients inconsistently across five sections, including listing grape seed and grapefruit seed extract as separate ingredients in one place. Anyone with a citrus allergy, or taking medication where grapefruit is a stated concern, should obtain written confirmation from the manufacturer before use.
